It is with profound sadness we share that our beloved Dr. Darcy Smith passed away on Tuesday, September 12th 2023. Dr. Darcy was a highly skilled veterinarian who dedicated her life to Veterinary Medicine, her family, and her many interests. She was an accomplished equestrian, cross country skier, traveler, rock climber and so much more. Darcy absolutely adored her daughter, Emily, and was her mom, friend, and biggest fan & cheerleader! Darcy was a fantastic mentor and co-worker. She and her husband, Richard Hillmer worked side by side in practice for several decades. The huge impact and benefits of their love for the Salem community & Veterinary Medicine is unending. Darcy is survived by her husband, daughter Emily and extended family.

If you feel so inclined to donate in memorial of Darcy, her family suggests the Boys & Girls Club, Family Building Blocks or Marion Polk Food Share in lieu of flowers. We ask you keep her family in your thoughts and prayers

Pharmacy News:

To Our Amazing Clients,

As of September 1, 2022, we will be implementing the following changes regarding medications:

Due to the number of repeated requests from online pharmacies, the inability to verify the legitimacy of requests, and continued high demand for veterinary services, we will no longer process requests from outside pharmacies.

This includes: emailed, faxed, or called in prescriptions from Petco, Chewy, PetMeds and other third party pharmacies. We will continue to use NW Compounders, Wedgewood, and Covetrus pharmacies, in addition to dispensing in-clinic prescriptions that do not require a written Rx.

We are happy to provide you with a written prescription for you to take to the pharmacy of your choice. Please allow 2 business days prior to pick up. Your pet’s safety is always our top priority. We sincerely appreciate your understanding regarding these changes. If you have any questions or concerns we are happy to discuss them with you.
